Orissa Television Ltd is arguably Orissa’s first electronic media outfit. Today the house boasts of three top-rated satellite channels – OTV, Tarang and Tarang Music.
Otv, the flagship channel was launched in Apr’97as a cable channel in Twin City. Later in Dec’06 it moved on to the satellite platform. As the first private satellite channel from the state, it gained huge popularity for its unbiased coverage of regional news, pure and original entertainment content and showcasing Orissa’s rich cultural heritage. In March’09 OTV became Orissa’s first 24x7 News and Current affairs Channel. The channel commands extremely high credibility and has been dubbed as the Opinion Maker of the state.
Before transforming OTV into an out and out NCA channel, in Nov’08, Orissa Television presented the viewers with a brand new Entertainment Channel “Tarang”, which incidentally is the first Oriya GEC. Today “Tarang” appears as the most viewed Oriya
channel across all categories. With mega mythological content like Shri Jagannath and judicious mix of daily soaps, comedy and other entertainment contents the channel literally keeps the viewers glued to their TV sets.
Tarang Music, the third satellite channel from the group is the first Oriya music channel, was launched in Apr’09. Today, Orissa Television with its 3 popular channels rules the C&S homes in Orissa with a combined reach of more than 70%
